Repairs and reconstruction stagesFirst stage
Initially founded and almost the unique task is the change of the seats. Urgent necessity is rising for enlargement and absorption of the partial repairs that turns into reconstruction consisting of a number of complicated and expensive building procedures.
Second stage
The work set to overall seismic stabilizing, water isolation of the cup and the grandstand of the stadium, partial change of the water supply and the electric installations, overall change of the terrain, track-and-field athletics track, the lighting and the information panel, sound-screen system, video control and the security systems, and also covering a line of UEFA’s requirements for the facility license.
Third stage
They had repaired the halls and all premises in the under-playground space. The woodwork had been changed. The indoor installations, water supply, sewage, the heating, electric installations and the local stations for warming of the terrain and the change of the information panel had been repaired.
Final stage
It characterizes with final touches on the overall construction, vertical planning out of the stadium’s cup, also the parking lots and the approaches to the main arteries of Sofia city.
Investor
The investor is National Youth and Sport Agency to the Council of Ministers and for the third and the final stage of the reconstruction – the Ministry of Youth and Sport.
Reconstruction – supervision and building
The building supervision had been realized by Link – Control and the building had been performed by Glavbulgarstroy. Designers are architect Rumen Parvanov, Mira Popova, Ivailo Nedyalkov and Iskren Galev.
In the progress of the reconstruction itself the designers worked and consulted with the stadium team with the purpose to make the execution of the project better.
Capital and Resources
With a Parliament decision on March 20, 2003 the stadium property had been changed from public state property to private state property.
With a following instruction the capital of the National Sport Base is supplemented with the assets of the stadium as to provide resources for covering of the expenses for the final reconstruct ional stage of the Vassil Levski National Stadium.
Plan and Architecture Outlook
The conception of Vassil Levski National Stadium is to require to all norms and standard consumptions of UEFA in order to assure participation of the Bulgarian Republic in all international activities and meetings.
In the words of the manager Mr. Anton Popov the undertaken overall repairs, reconstruction and the final touches of the existing original construction and the terrains around it, did not allow the building of additional rows, sectors and seats. All the more the builders thought only for the spectators’ safety.
